A letter from the Spires camp

We got a letter today regarding Wayne Spires and his sojourn up the ham tower:

Hi Bryan, this is Wayne’s son-in-law. Wayne wanted me to thank you for your support. While this isn’t currently about ham radio, it could be one day. With one man in total control of the homeowner’s association, he could decide that one day he doesn’t want Wayne to have his ham tower. He could then charge him whatever fees he wanted to if Wayne doesn’t remove it.

Thanks guys!

And if you want to see a really funny thread, check out the thread on QRZ about this. The thread wasn’t 10 messages long before some OF ham tries to pick a pointless fight …. and some guy named ke7gal calls the Masons a “white supremacist cult” (owing to the square and compass I proudly use as my avatar on QRZ).

Keep supporting Wayne!!

    Wetumpka man ends tower protest

Wayne Spires made his descent from a 68-foot radio tower today to end his protest of a court ruling on an ongoing land dispute in a small community outside Wetumpka.

Spires, 61, chose 1 p.m. to complete a full week – to the hour – on the tower behind his Wallsboro home.

“I’m weak-legged,” Spires told the Advertiser, adding that he came down because friends had called the secretary of Circuit Court Judge John Bush and “she said he’s still doing some research (on the case).”

Spires and neighbors say they were wrongly sued for failing to participate in a homeowners group they wanted no part of.

Spires denied overnight storms played a factor in his decision to come down and said he would go back up the tower depending on the judge’s decision.

  2. There appears to be a least a few brothern who visit this site. Infact, there even used to be some light on the main page.

Only if people would do some real research before calling the Masonic Lodge a “white supremacist cult”. I have been told that MANY times from people, and I have yet to find ANYONE that has any proof to back that up. Most of the time they just say it is because someone else told them it is.. I myself come from a VERY large Masonic family!!!

  5. As for a “white supremacist cult”, I don’t think very many African Americans who would join a “white supremacist cult.” We have a some who are members at my lodge. That would hopefully silence such allagations. You may also want to mention Prince Hall Masons.

    Masons supremacists?

Not a chance. They are one of the most charitable organizations I know and I personally know some black Freemasons.

What on earth possessed you to make such an outrageous statement?

He just needs to quit reading those conspiracy theory websites. Some people just believe EVERYTHING they read I guess.. Oh well, on a lighter note just a bit more to study here and I’m ready for my MM Deg!!!

When I moved here I agreed to become a member of a landowners association which included sharing the cost of maintaining the roads. However, I did not agree to become a member of a homeowner’s association and all the restrictions that go along with it. My bond for title says I am to be a member of a landowner’s association—not a homeowner’s association.

The biggest injustice, I feel, that was done was when the judge ruled that there is no difference between a homeowner’s association and a landowner’s association. (Especially since the homeowner’s association wasn’t formed until after I purchased my land.) I feel the judge made an error in his ruling. He said he didn’t know the difference between a homeowner’s association and a landowner’s association.I feel if he didn’t know the difference then he should not have ruled until he found out. I believe he should withdraw his ruling because the paperwork I was given for a landowner’s association is different from the paperwork members of the homeowner’s association were given.

I believe that there has been fraud, deception and people intentionally misled concerning the River Falls Homeowner’s Association. The way I read the law, they are acting without authority. Plus one man in their association has the power to do what he wants – even if all the rest of the members vote against him. He is putting extreme hardships on my family and knows this and still calls it – in his own words – “progress.”

The homeowner’s association claims that their power comes from amendments to the plat. I have spoken with at least fifteen lawyers and paid two abstract companies to look and the plat and any amendments to it. They all examined the plat and said that there are no restrictions on it! The judge ruled that there are restrictions on the plat. I feel he made an error there also.

My case is still pending; the next part of the trail is set for February 5, 2007.I have no lawyer to represent me at this time and if I lose this case I will more than likely loose my home. My wife and I need help. Please pray for us and let the Lord do his will with us in this matter.

    Thank you,

    Robert Spires Sr.
